Foton being the largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in the world and has the wide range of vehicles ranging from Passenger to Heavy Commercial Vehicle to meet the market demand. From 1996 to 2012, Foton has sold more than 5 million vehicles and has successfully held the world's highest position in regard to sales volume of commercial vehicles for two consecutive years. Foton has held the largest market share of commercial vehicles in China for five consecutive years and the largest market share of light-duty trucks in China for ten consecutive years.

To achieve the global technology standard, Foton had Joint venture with world renowned brand Cummins and Daimler.

In March 2008, China's largest engine manufacturer Beijing Foton Cummins Engine Co., Ltd.(BFCEC) was established with a joint investment of 2.7 billion yuan and an annual production capacity of 400,000 units. ISF2.8L and ISF2.8LI engines manufactured by BFCEC were up to international standard. BFCEC's establishment marks a major breakthrough for Foton's globally.

On February 18, 2012 Daimler AG and Beiqi Foton Motor Co., Ltd. (Foton) held the "Conference on Establishment of Beijing Foton Daimler Automotive Co., Ltd." in Beijing to celebrate the conclusion of the joint venture negotiation. Beijing Foton Daimler Automotive Co., Ltd. (joint venture) was established with a total investment of 6.35 billion yuan and a registered capital of 5.6 billion yuan, of which Foton and Daimler hold a 50% share each.
